Sustain eCourt Case Processing, from Sustain Technologies, Inc., based out of Englewood, Colorado, was on hand at the NAALJ annual conference in New Orleans, Louisiana to show off its web-based case processing system. According to its literature, eCourt provides “configurable workflow management to automate and streamline [a] court’s work.” It supports leading relational databases, is highly configurable, providing configurable workflow management to automate and streamline workflow. The customer determines work queue, and under what conditions, work will be pushed.

eCourt provides case management, calendaring, accounting functions, document creation in RTF format (through Word or WordPerfect), and document management. In addition, eCourt Case Processing allows for “Dynamic Advanced Searching and Ad-Hoc Reporting”, and tools that allow end-users to quickly record information in the courtroom using pre-defined templates, cut and paste, short-cut keys, and use a bar code reader to select commonly used text. Case notes can be entered on a case with private, public, and role-only access. Users can communicate with each other using the notes features. The system also boasts sophisticated security allowing administrators to design their own flexible operational hierarchies of security levels using criteria such as agency, case type, role, etc.
